Even after installing boot camp on my Macbook Pro (Late 2008) and installing the drivers I still had a range of uninstalled hardware devices. These seemed to be conflicting also with what VMware Fusion wanted to do with them and after every boot either instance complained about missing drivers or couldn’t handle the installed drivers.
The specific drivers were:
This is exactly as outlined in this Apple Discussion thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9437175
There, it is mentioned that even reinstalling (repairing) the drivers didn’t help, but I guess it’s a matter of patience:
As I was close to giving up, after installing or repairing these drivers for the third or fourth time, I figured that what gets in the way is windows trying to install the drivers on their own before you and thus ’snatching them away’ from the install process that the Boot Camp disc wants to go through. In fact, when asked by windows to select driver one should merely click on ‘cancel’ and just go right to the Boot Camp repair. It will take several restarts and repairs until all drivers are truly installed but I guess it’s worth the time.
